Storm Drain Stenciling and Maintenance | IV - Adopt-a-Block |
Closed till further notice due to Covid. Adopt-A-Block encourages investment and involvement in the Isla Vista community by providing simple ways for volunteers to make a significant impact on the Isla Vista environment through clean-ups, outreach and education. Our volunteers use trash grabbers and reusable buckets to remove most of the trash that becomes trapped under parked cars and against curbs before it obstructs drains and contaminates storm water runoff that flows into local marine and terrestrial habitats. Volunteer your time! Check out how to get involved. |

Stewarding Neighborhood Infrastructure | IV - Beautiful |
The Beautification program serves to enhance our community by empowering our most vulnerable residents with work experience, and putting the ability to report quality of life issues into the hands of the community. Residents can report graffiti, vandalism, dim or absent street lighting, obstructions to the right of way and public garbage to be handled by the staff at IV Beautiful. To report an issue, follow this link or download the SeeClickFix app on your smartphone. |
Preventing Crime | IV - Safety Stations |
Safety Stations strive to improve the public safety and well-being of the community on its most hectic nights. Community Service Officers (CSO), student liaisons between UCSB students and the police, work the Safety Stations to provide free escorts to residents’ homes, free water, and report emergencies. Look here for more information on CSOs. |
Preventing Crime | IV - Interpersonal Violence Investigator |
The investigator works with the IVCSD to provide preventative services against interpersonal violence, including community education and outreach, in addition to services which respond to such cases. For more information see this related article at the UCSB student newspaper, Daily Nexus. |
Preventing Crime | IV - Survivor Resource Center |
In partnership with Standing Together to End Sexual Assault (STESA), the IVCSD recently opened the Survivor Resource Center in Isla Vista to promote the safety and health of the community. The Center serves as a safe space and one where survivors can access medical, emergency and legal services that would have otherwise been only accessible in downtown Santa Barbara. |
Preventing Crime | IV - Lighting |
As Isla Vista community members, the IVCSD understands how insufficient lighting poses safety concerns, especially to our youth population. We are currently mapping out areas that are in need of increased lighting as we receive the funding to implement them. If you feel that there is an insufficient amount of lighting in an area we have not yet identified, please fill out our survey below or report it as an issue on the SeeClickFix app. |
